Every AI assistant platform works the same way: your files, your customer conversations, everything goes to someone else's servers to be processed. That's the industry default — not because it's the only way to build this, but because it's the easier way to build it.
We built Hire Alien the harder way on purpose. The actual thinking — reading your documents, talking to your chosen AI, remembering the conversation — happens inside a real desktop app running on your own computer. Our own servers only ever see your account, your billing, and how many messages your AI employee answered — never what was said, and never your documents.
That single decision shapes almost everything else about how this product works: why there's a real desktop app instead of just a web dashboard, why you plug in your own AI provider key instead of us reselling one to you, and why the pricing is a flat monthly fee per AI employee instead of charging per message — we're not in a position to meter something we never see.
A small business's customer conversations and internal documents are theirs, not ours to hold. A platform should be honest about what it can and can't do — including telling you plainly when a desktop app and a document folder aren't the easiest possible setup, because it's still the right one. And support should mean an actual person, not a ticket that disappears into a queue.
